[This message is being sent to you at the request of Southeast Uplift Neighborhood Coalition.]

SE Uplift (SEUL) and the Northeast Coalition of Neighborhoods (NECN) are hosting a community forum to talk about how decisions are made regarding the sale or transfer of public land (esp. city and school owned property) in Portland.

There is a huge amount of property in parks and schoolyards deeply valued by our communities for contributing to the character, quality and functioning of our neighborhoods. There is strong pressure from developers to gain access to parks and vacant school lands for real estate opportunities. This is an opportunity for the community to get  information about public land stewardship and discuss whether our interests are served when agencies sell public lands.

Join our community forum!

Saturday, June 19th
10AM to 12PM
Mt Tabor Theater
4811 SE Hawthorne Blvd.

For more information, please contact Leah Hyman at Southeast Uplift at 503-232-0010, ext. 314, or leah@southeastuplift.org.

Please feel free to forward this email to anyone you think will be interested.

We hope to see you on Saturday!

1988 Centryal City Plan is being updated by Bureau of Planning and Sustainability!

Filed Under Uncategorized · Tagged:

Dear Portland community member:

The Bureau of Planning and Sustainability and partners are beginning a multi-phased project to update the 1988 Central City Plan. We hope you will be involved!

Central City 2035 (CC2035) will address the challenges and opportunities in the Central City and ensure that this vital economic, transportation, cultural and educational hub will be a vibrant resource for all Portlanders over the next 25 years.

Check out the map on the project website, http://www.portlandonline.com/bps/cc2035. It will remind you that the Central City is not just downtown. Portland’s Central City crosses the river and is comprised of eight subdistricts including the River District, Goose Hollow, the University District, South Waterfront, Central Eastside Industrial District, Lloyd District and Lower Albina subdistrict.

On the website you will also find the project schedule, background documents about existing conditions and initial themes for discussion, and a sign-up button to keep you up to date on project news.

To help guide the community process, the Mayor has appointed a group of stakeholders as the CC2035 Advisory Group, and their meetings are open to the public. We hope you will participate in this and later phases of CC2035. First, we will develop a policy framework to set overall direction for development in the Central City. In later phases, we will develop more detailed plans for each of the subdistricts. Work on the first of these areas, for the Lloyd and Lower Albina Subdistricts, will be called the North/Northeast Quadrant Plan and will begin this fall.

The development of the new Central City plan intertwines with the creation of the Portland Plan, an overall roadmap for Portland for the next 25 years. And since the Central City district is the hub of the City and region, it is important that you are involved in planning for its future.

CC2035 needs your expertise and advice to ensure that Portland’s Central City is a thriving, equitable and sustainable.
Please visit http://www.portlandonline.com/bps/cc2035 and sign up to get involved. For more information, please contact Steve Iwata at: steve.iwata@portlandoregon.gov.

Best regards,
Susan Anderson
