Hi - this is a note to ask for your help. We have been selected as a finalist for a $25,000 grant to support mobile climbing walls and summer free lunch programs. We are competing against four other foundations and the winners will be those who receive the most votes on the web page below. SE Uplift (SEUL) and the Northeast Coalition of Neighborhoods (NECN) are hosting a community forum to talk about how decisions are made regarding the sale or transfer of public land (esp. city and school owned property) in Portland.
There is a huge amount of property in parks and schoolyards deeply valued by our communities for contributing to the character, quality and functioning of our neighborhoods. There is strong pressure from developers to gain access to parks and vacant school lands for real estate opportunities. This is an opportunity for the community to get information about public land stewardship and discuss whether our interests are served when agencies sell public lands.
